... In general the duo was impressive, showing technical expertise and intelligent and expressive readings of the music. The excellent concert testified to the musicians' worthy goal: to present a balanced repertoire ranging from the music of the Viennese Classicism to works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Steinschaden and Vavtar worked seamlessly together in both the old and the new. The violinist played with deeply felt lyricism and clean articulation. Both musicians lent the soul-shattering Adagio espressivo a certain nobility and vocal quality. The Brahms came off well with depth and rhythmic excitement.
